The Legal Practice Council is a statutory body that regulates the legal profession in South Africa. It oversees the admission, practice, and conduct of all legal practitioners.

 

About the Bursary Programme

 

The Legal Practice Council is offering Bursaries for the 2027 Academic year to students pursuing law qualifications. Bursaries are available for students committed to access to justice.

  • Corporate Law

 

Eligibility Requirements

 

To be considered for the Legal Practice Council Bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • South African citizenship

  • Completed Grade 12 with a Bachelor's pass (minimum 60% in English)

  • Accepted or currently enrolled at a recognized South African university for an LLB degree

  • Demonstrated financial need

  • Strong academic record with minimum 65% average

  • Must be committed to promoting access to justice

  • Not in receipt of any other full-cost bursary

 

Required Documents

 

Applicants must submit the following documents with their application:

  • Certified copy of South African ID document

  • Certified copy of Grade 12 certificate

  • Full academic record (if currently studying)

  • Proof of acceptance or registration at a recognized university

  • A comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV)

  • A motivational letter explaining your interest in law

  • Proof of household income (parents'/guardians' salary advices or affidavit)
