About the Bursary Programme

 

Transnet Freight Rail is offering Bursaries for the 2027 Academic year to students who want to study engineering, logistics, and related qualifications.

  • Railway Engineering

  • Electrical Engineering

  • Supply Chain Management

  • Information Technology

 

Eligibility Requirements

 

To be considered for the Transnet Bursary Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • South African citizenship

  • Completed Grade 12 with a Bachelor's pass (minimum 60% in Mathematics and English)

  • Accepted or currently enrolled at a recognized South African university

  • Demonstrated financial need

  • Strong academic record with minimum 65% average

  • Must be willing to work in any Transnet location across South Africa after graduation

  • Not in receipt of any other government-funded bursary

 

Required Documents

 

Applicants must submit the following documents with their application:

  • Certified copy of South African ID document

  • Certified copy of Grade 12 certificate

  • Full tertiary academic record (if currently studying)

  • Proof of acceptance or registration at a recognized institution

  • A detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV)

  • A motivational letter outlining your career goals

  • Proof of household income (parents'/guardians' latest payslips or affidavit)
